Introduction

Research was conducted on behalf of the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) involving just over 1,400 respondents. The research sought to understand the impact that electricity prices are currently having on households and what actions households are taking to manage this, including their intentions to switch electricity plans.

The survey was conducted between 21-27 August 2023.

Results from the 2023 survey were compared to previous survey results collected in 2022 and 2019. In doing so, the survey was able to monitor changes in the level of confidence that respondents have in terms of being on the best plan for their circumstances, and the most important factors involved when choosing their electricity plan.
